so I go to put my juice in the fridge and am planning on going to sleep when I come across a bunch of my flatmates (+ Jeff) in the living room excitedly talking about boys- how they suck, to be exact. I then ended up spending over an hour out there and the conversation evolved quite amusingly... why I love the London program.
notes:
- boys are stupid
- "relationship" and "love" are terms that have been cheapened in our society
and from there..
- life. the world is there for the taking. stop stressing about the future and think about the endless possibilities ahead of us- as college graduates. as a few of the lucky ones. we can get a job at a pub in a foreign country and tough it out for a while. or go to med school. know why.
- thinking about one's impact
- what's the point
- enjoying classes... or not.
- ND... love it? hate it?
-> homogeneous. not enjoyable. people mask their problems, not out in the open. the "Disneyland" effect. the bubble. white. fake? the school forces it. think contracts that people have to sign when they have major problems. silencing them is not helpful for the person, but it is for the school's image.
- identity. people. who are we? our identities are constantly changing depending on the situation, circumstancial... we are different depending on who we are with and where we are. but isn't identity something we should just have? it sounds more static than it is.
and then...
- the complexities of matter. how things work. it's amazing.
- modern science. the world is round? completely irrelevent in 100 years? that's so 1990s.
- modern medicine. so many drugs. America has a ridiculously high infant mortality rate. child birthing differences around the world. C-sections- why? should be last resort. vanity. teeth cleaning. braces. wisdom teeth removal is more dangerous than anything. no surgery is a small surgery.
